DC’s CMX Manga Line Cancelled

Penguin Revolution #3

I totally missed this announcement, but DC Comics’ CMX imprint — home of many of my favorite manga series including Emma, Land of the Blindfolded and Penguin Revolution was shut down by DC Comics. Though the end date is July 1st, they’ve already removed all signs of the imprint from their website.

At least all the series I was following had wrapped (Emma very recently), so I’m not left hanging, but this gives me a big ol’ sad. Their editors had excellent taste and published some really fantastic series in their short six years.

Moment of silence, y’all.

June Comics Order

I just placed my order for June’s comics which I have shipped by my old comic shop, Discount Comic Book Service.  They do an awesome job of packing things up and sending them safely.  I sometimes think they go a little overboard, but I guess that’s better than the opposite.  What follows is what I ordered.  I seem to be evenly split between monthly comics and manga collections.  I resisted the siren call of tchotchkes and t-shirts this month, though it was a near thing ;)

Comics for 18 April 2007

On Words of Prey, in all its incarnations, we have a weekly thread entitled “Queen of Days.”  This was an homage/adaptation of the same thread I believe is still going on over on Dixonverse.net where some of us first met online.  Basically, it’s a list of the comics we plan to buy each week on the “Queen of Days,” Wednesday — the day new comics are released.
